Our Projects

We've brought science closer to children through projects funded by Timișoara's Municipal Project Center, bringing STEAM workshops directly into schools. In summer 2026, we also opened a pop-up museum in the city center. Alongside this, we've helped popularize science through our presence at fairs and events — from robotics festivals to technology expos — showing that experiments can be just as captivating outside the classroom. Here are a few of our projects.

In July 2026, Mattika Explore, in partnership with Tehnicarium, ran the "Play with Science" pop-up science museum, funded through the Cultură în Present program of Center for Projects of the Municipality of Timișoara. For a week, at the Timișoara Project Center, visitors could interact with 15+ exhibits - including a Pythagorean theorem puzzle, a geodesic dome, bridges, a sand pendulum, and a lever balance - and access a cardboard-building creative space. The week closed with a local STEAM community meetup focused on the project's future. Some exhibits later returned to the public during Timișoara City Celebration, at St. George's Square.

In fall 2024, Mattika Explore ran the first edition of the Creative Science project, funded through the Culture in the Present program of Center for Projects of the Municipality of Timișoara. The project opened with the marble run workshop at Timișoara City Celebration. This was followed by the online contest "Creative Science at My School," where 5 schools in Timișoara competed to become the third partner school. The winner was St. Mary High School. In total, 24 STEAM workshops - blending art with physics, chemistry, and engineering - took place at Avram Iancu High School, Bartók Béla High School and St. Mary High School.

Mattika Explore took part in the "Water Museum – connecting to Timișoara's cultural network" project — organized by the Aquatim Foundation, part of the "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture" national cultural program — as a service provider, running 10 science and creative workshops for children. Children learned about water, wind, and rocks, built quirky robots and painting machines, enjoyed chemical reactions, and learned about electric current.
